Wilde's Mike McCarthy Presents At The Safety Control & Instrumentation Systems Conference: Process & Machine Safety

Wilde's Mike McCarthy is presenting at the 3-day conference, "Safety Control and Instrumentation Systems Conference: Process and Machine Safety" - 19th - 21st May 2009, Manchester.

This conference will examine and discuss the latest local and international practices and standards in process and machine safety.  It will focus on the technology and application of safety-related control and instrumentation systems in the chemicals, energy, mining and manufacturing industries.   It will also examine the complex and challenging issues of using control systems technology to maintain and improve the safety of people and plant whilst ensuring profitability.

This three-day event with its experienced speakers will highlight and examine the critical issues involved in the application and management of functional safety systems. It will provide opportunities for participants to discuss their experiences and applications, and will cover cost effective and secure solutions to safety problems.

Mike’s presentation, entitled “Reliability Tools and Risk Management” , will address the question of how reliability tools fit within risk management. He will discuss typical reliability tools used within the design and operational phases of a 'safety critical systems' life. In particular, Mike will discuss how tools such as Weibull analysis, accelerated testing, QFD and simulation methods (such as FEA and CFD) help reduce risk throughout the life of the product / system.
